Cherie Kay Gets the Props from the 'Rents
You've seen Cherie Kay's now famous "Got Magic" image in advertisements for promotional vendors, on her web site, and in magazine advertisements; this summer, it beautifully adorned the cover of Michigan Magic Day's program.
Ms. Kay's decision to use the campaign was brilliant if only for the free promotion. We love the image/concept but even those few magicians who dislike the campaign (perhaps they don't care for Airborne Milk, or are lactose intolerant), still know of and appreciate Ms. Kay.
We had a chance to watch Ms. Kay perform at Michigan Magic Day during the benefit show.
Ms. Kay had the unenviable role as emcee for the two-hour performance where scheduled acts failed to show and others failed to end. We learned later Ms. Kay had to fill-in, change her trick selection, and act as back-stage ringmaster.
We thought she was the class of the show but had no idea just how flexible and professional she needed to be to keep the performance on track.
Today's Parent Magazine put together an outstanding article about Ms. Kay, her work, and her approach to performing as a magician or motivational speaker.
Surely Ms. Kay does not need marketing advice from us, but we're thinking the article might be a great component of a solicitation packet.
We know, genius.
